ALGS: 2023 Championship

1. Group Stage

The 40 participating teams are divided evenly into four groups of ten. Each group competes against every other group in a six-game series, resulting in a total of 18 matches per team. Following the Group Stage, teams advance to the Bracket Stage based on their overall scores:

• Top 20 teams secure a spot in the Winners Bracket.

• Bottom 20 teams are placed into Round 1 of the Losers Bracket.

2. Bracket Stage

The Bracket Stage consists of one 8-game series for the Winners Bracket and two 8-game series for the Losers Bracket. Teams progress to the Finals under the following rules:

• Winners Bracket: The top ten teams advance directly to the Finals, while the remaining ten teams drop to Round 2 of the Losers Bracket.

• Losers Bracket (Round 1): The top ten teams advance to Round 2 of the Losers Bracket, while the bottom ten teams are eliminated from the tournament.

• Losers Bracket (Round 2): The top ten teams claim the final spots in the Finals, while the remaining teams are eliminated.

3. Finals

The remaining 20 teams will battle in the Finals using the high-stakes Match Point format. The ten teams advancing from the Winners Bracket will receive a head start with Advanced Starting Points based on their placement.

Placement Rules:

• There is no match limit in the Finals.

• Once a team reaches or exceeds a threshold of 50 total points, they become "Match Point Eligible."

• The first Match Point Eligible team to win a match (achieve a Champions status) is crowned the Champion.

• After the winner is declared, positions 2 through 20 are ranked strictly by their total accumulated Finals points.

• There is no restriction on how many teams can become Match Point Eligible simultaneously.

Seeding Points:

The top ten teams from the Winners Bracket will kick off the Finals with an advantage.
