ALGS: 2022 Split 2 Playoffs

1. Group Stage (April 29th)

• Structure: The 40 participating teams are divided into four even groups of 10.

• Format: Every group plays against each other in a 6-game series, totaling 18 matches per team.

• Seeding: No teams are eliminated during this stage. Instead, cumulative scores determine Bracket Stage placement:

  • Top 20 teams advance directly to the Winners Bracket.

  • Bottom 20 teams are placed into Losers Bracket Round 1.

2. Bracket Stage (April 30th)

This stage consists of three separate 6-game series designed to filter the field down to the top 20 teams:

• Winners Bracket: The top 10 teams move straight to the Finals. The bottom 10 teams drop down to Losers Bracket Round 2.

• Losers Bracket Round 1: The top 10 teams advance to Losers Bracket Round 2, while the bottom 10 teams are eliminated.

• Losers Bracket Round 2: Comprising the bottom 10 from Winners and top 10 from Losers Round 1. The top 10 teams secure the final slots in the Finals, while the bottom 10 teams are eliminated.

3. Finals (May 1st)

The remaining 20 teams compete for the championship using the high-stakes Match Point format.

• Advance Starting Points: To reward their performance, the 10 teams advancing directly from the Winners Bracket receive a point head-start based on their bracket seeding.

• Match Point Mechanics:

  • There is no fixed match limit.

  • As soon as a team hits the 50-point threshold, they become "Match Point Eligible."

  • The first Match Point Eligible team to outright win a subsequent match is crowned the Champion.

  • Unlimited teams can become Match Point Eligible simultaneously. Once the winner is declared, the remaining placements (2nd–20th) are determined by total accumulated points.
