Launch of the eSports National Teams Cup Rankings and Team Building Platform: Qualification Pathway to Riyadh Revealed!

The Electronic Sports Foundation officially announced the joint launch of the eSports National Teams Cup Rankings and the interactive team building platform. This move aims to establish the competitive framework that will lead the direct qualification path to the inaugural edition and awaited event of the tournament, scheduled to take place in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, from November 2 to 29, 2026.
The new ranking system aims to provide the highest levels of transparency in the qualification processes, as it tracks and monitors players' performance in key international tournaments and transforms their field results into accurate global rankings that include all 16 participating games this year. In team games, the system relies on tallying points through the expected national team rosters, while rankings are calculated and applied directly to players in individual games.
The current estimated rankings available on the platform are based on the highest potential and possible formations in terms of points before the official lists are submitted, with updates to be made later this summer to reflect confirmed rosters and the actual competitive points of players. These rankings will remain flexible and subject to change throughout the qualification period until each game's closing date, which is when direct invitations to Riyadh will be officially confirmed.
🖥️ Team Building Platform: Fan Engagement and Tactical Depth
Coinciding with the reveal of the rankings, the innovative team building platform has been launched, giving fans a unique opportunity to assume the role of a manager through:
- 🛠️ Creating Rosters: The ability to build custom team lists across several games and see if their choices qualify for a direct invitation based on the points system.- 📈 Measuring Individual Impact: Highlighting how individual player performance affects the overall ranking of their national team.- 🌍 Comparison and Sharing: Facilitating exploration of roster options, comparing geographic regions, and sharing "Dream Teams" with the fan community. In this context, Mike McCabe, the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Electronic Sports Foundation, stated:
"Through the tournament rankings and the team building platform, we are establishing a clear framework for how countries and regions qualify and compete in the tournament. Performance is what determines the selection, but we are also opening up this process more broadly, so players understand what is required for qualification, and fans can engage more deeply."
📈 A Major Milestone on the Path to the Historic 2026 Edition
The launch of the rankings and the interactive platform comes as a crucial preparatory milestone toward the million-dollar tournament scheduled for November, following which this launch is part of a series of completed strategic steps, including:
- Coaching Staff: Appointment and confirmation of official coaches across more than 100 countries and regions.2. Competitive Map: Final approval of the game list which includes 16 global games.3. Player Base: Forecasts indicate a record and historic participation exceeding 100,000 players competing in the open global qualifiers to reach the final event in Riyadh.
