The Overwatch Champions Series (OWCS) 2026 - Asia Stage 1 is the first and crucial stop in the competitive season for the Asia region, gathering top teams from South Korea, Japan, and the Pacific region to compete for the regional title and global qualification slots.
Format
📅 Group Stage: May 5th – 6th
- Format: Round Robin with two groups.
- Match Rules: All matches are First-to-2 (Ft2).
- Progression: The Top 2 teams from each group advance to the Playoffs.
⚔️ Playoffs: May 9th – 10th
- Format: Double elimination bracket.
- Match Rules: * All bracket matches are First-to-3 (Ft3).
- Grand Finals: Contested as a First-to-4 (Ft4).
🚫 Hero Ban System
The tournament employs a strategic hero ban phase for every map:
- The Rule: Each team bans one hero per map; the ban affects both teams.
- Role Restriction: A team’s ban must be from a different role than the opposing team’s ban (e.g., if Team A bans a Tank, Team B must ban a Damage or Support).
- Series Constraint: A team can only ban a specific hero once per series. However, they are permitted to "repeat" a ban previously used by their opponent.
- Turn Order: The higher-seeded team (or the team that lost the previous map) chooses whether to ban first or second.
