League of Legends World Championship 2025 is an esports tournament of the MOBA genre, and it is the fifteenth edition of the annual World Championship organized by Riot Games.

Format

Qualification

  • MSI Champion: Qualifies directly if they reach their regional playoffs.
  • Swiss Stage: Top 3 teams from each region (15 total, excluding the MSI champ) qualify directly.
  • Play-In (Oct 14): The 4th seeds from the top two MSI regions (LCK & LPL) play a single Bo5 elimination match using Fearless Draft. The winner advances to the Swiss Stage.

Swiss Stage (Oct 15–19, 22–25)

  • Format: 16 teams play in a 5-round Swiss format.
  • Progression: Teams with 3 wins advance to Knockouts; teams with 3 losses are eliminated.
  • Match Types: Elimination and advancement matches are Bo3 (Fearless Draft). All other matches are Bo1.
  • Side Selection (Game 1): Given to the higher regional seed. If equal, the team drawn first chooses.

Knockout Stage (Oct 28–Nov 2, Nov 9)

  • Format: 8-team, single-elimination bracket. All matches are Bo5 (Fearless Draft).
  • Side Selection (Game 1):
  • Quarterfinals: Team with the better Swiss record chooses (or first drawn if tied).
  • Semifinals & Finals: Determined by a coin flip.

Key Info & Draw Rules

  • Patch: The tournament is played on Patch 25.20.
  • Quarterfinal Draw:
  • Teams that went 3-0 are placed on opposite sides of the bracket and matched against 3-2 teams.
  • The remaining teams are then drawn against each other.
