The PGL Wallachia Season 1 tournament is one of the largest and most significant events in the history of modern Dota 2, as it is the inaugural tournament and the first event in the exceptional PGL tournament series for 2024, and the first major tournament to revive competitions with the unique Swiss System in the Dota world.

Format

1. The Group Stage (May 10th – 15th, 2024)

  • Format: A single, modified Swiss-System featuring 16 world-class teams.

  • Match Rules: There are no short cuts—all matches throughout this stage are played as a Best-of-3 (Bo3).

  • The Outcome:

    • The top 8 teams successfully secure their spots and advance to the Playoffs.

    • The remaining 8 teams are officially eliminated from the competition.

2. The Playoffs (May 16th – 19th, 2024)

  • Format: A high-stakes, Double-Elimination bracket.

  • Match Rules:

    • All standard bracket matches (Upper and Lower brackets) are played as a Best-of-3 (Bo3).

    • The Grand Final escalates to a grueling, ultimate endurance test played as a Best-of-5 (Bo5) series.
